Lip Service

Creating jobs. Growing the economy. Putting more Kansans to work.

That's what legislators in Topeka told us they were going to focus on this year. What do they have to show for it so far? Absolutely nothing.

Instead they have focused on political attacks on the basic rights of hardworking Kansans.

In the last week, the Legislature has supported slashing Unemployment benefits for Kansans who are looking for a job and Workers Compensation protections for workers who are injured on the job. Next week the Kansas House can take action on a bill that silences the voices of those same workers during political campaigns.

That's three big changes that will make life harder for working Kansans. And how many jobs will those changes create?

Zero.

How did your Senator and Representative vote on these attacks on working Kansans?

Working Kansans deserve better than lip service. And we can't afford to be silent when legislators say one thing and do another.

We will keep you updated on how legislators vote on issues that affect working families,

In the meantime, forward this email to your friends. Talk to them this weekend about the shameless attacks on their basic rights. Urge them to contact their legislators.
