Andy Sanchez, KS AFL-CIO Executive Secretary-Treasurer
Andy came on-board in September of 2006 and brings an extensive union background. Prior to coming to the KS AFL-CIO, Andy spent 9 years with the Kansas Association of Public Employees (KAPE), an affiliate of AFT and the AFL-CIO. While at KAPE, Andy served as a AFT Project Field Rep Organizer, Director of Labor Relations, and Executive Director. Before that, Andy worked in the electrical trade industry for 17 years and served as the Training Director of the Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for the I.B.E.W. Local Union #226. He is a past member of the National Electrical Training Director's Association. Andy started his young adult working career and was first exposed to the benefits of unions at the United Parcel Service (U.P.S.). Further, Andy was a registered business agent in his tenure at KAPE and served on numerous committees while at KAPE. He has also served as a KAPE delegate to the KS AFL-CIO conventions, was elected to the board for the Topeka Federation of Labor and has also served on the Greater Topeka United Way Board. Andy served on the Long Range Transportation Advisory Committee and is currently serving on the Topeka Metropolitian Transit Authority (TMTA) Board, the Kansas Action Network (KAN) board, the Employment Security Advisory Council, the Kansas Coaltion for Workplace Safety and the United Way Financial Stability Impact Council.
