Andy Sanchez
Andy came on-board in September of 2006 and brings an extensive union background. Prior to coming to the KS AFL-CIO, Andy spent 9 years with the Ks Association of Public Employees (KAPE), an affiliate of AFT and the AFL-CIO. While at KAPE, Andy served as a AFT Director of Labor Relations, and Executive Director. Before that, Andy worked in the electrical trade industry for 17 years and served as the Training Director of the Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for the IBEW L.U. #226. He is a past member of the National Electrical Training Director's Association. Andy started his young adult working career and was first exposed to the benefits of unions at the United Parcel Service (U.P.S.). Further, Andy was a registered business agent in his tenure at KAPE and served on numerous committees while at KAPE. He has served on the board for the Topeka Federation of Labor, the Greater Topeka United Way Board, the Long Range Transportation Advisory Committee, the 2018 Joint Legislative Transportation Vision Task Force, the Topeka Metropolitan Transit Authority (TMTA) Board, the Ks Action Network (KAN) board, the Employment Security Advisory Council, the United Way Financial Stability Impact Council and is currently on the WKA (formerly the Ks Coalition for Workplace Safety) Executive Board.
